Sachseln – a quaint village (470 meters above sea level) in the mountains of Kanton Obwalden and Lake Sarnen

Flüeli-Ranft - renommated pilgrim's place of Saint Nicolaus

Niklaus von Flüe, known as ‘brother Klaus’ (1717 – 1487), was the most famous citizen of Sachseln and lived in Flüeli-Ranft. Within a driving distance of 10 minutes, you will find this famous place. Visit the birth place, living house and other places of interest which are open to the public. Let you take back to ancient times and experience the living environment. His anchoretic cabin in the gorge counts to the most important pilgrim places of Switzerland and furthermore. This place still exerts a pull of spirituality and empowerment. 

 

Älggi-Alp – the geografically midpoint of Switzerland

Aelggi is the biggest Alp of Sachseln and is situated approx. 1650 meters above sea level. An overwhelming and spectacular setting of landscape, which would be perfect for many movies. It is an Eldorado for photographers! The cabins, the small chapel, the cows and the rustic Restaurant make a visit to this place an absolute must.
